General Information
Establishment
The opening of the Veterinary Department and the Veterinary Health and Laboratory Program affiliated to the department was realized with the Senate decision dated 15.12.2009 and numbered 18 of Gumushane University and the approval of the Higher Education Executive Board dated 03.02.2010. Our department has started education in the form of primary and secondary education since the 2012-2013 academic year.
Mission
To contribute to the scientific and cultural development of the region by giving education opportunities to the young people in our country and in our region. To train and develop the qualified manpower needed by the society.
Vision
To be the tenth vocational school that meets the needs of trained intermediate staff of the region and the country by creating young people who graduate from Kelkit Aydın Dogan Vocational School with qualified knowledge and skills and can solve the problems they encounter.
Degree to be Obtained
Graduates are given an associate degree and diploma in the field of VETERINARY.
Admission Requirements
To be successful in the OSYS exam conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM). Admission conditions for foreign students are announced on the university's website at the beginning of each academic year.
Upgrade
Candidates who have successfully completed their associate degree education can transfer to the undergraduate programs of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, biology, animal production, agricultural biotechnology, and zootechnics with the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
Graduation Requirements
Students who successfully complete all 120 ECTS courses in the program and achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 are entitled to graduate.
Employment Opportunities of Graduates
Graduates of the department have two professions in their working life. They have the opportunity to work as assistant staff in the veterinary department and the animal health branch directorates of the Ministry of Agriculture, cattle and sheep farms, animal hospitals, pet shops, pharmaceutical factories and companies, municipal slaughterhouses and private clinics. At the same time, program students can also engage in business lines operating in agricultural production lines suitable for the conditions of the region they are in, or in their own agricultural activities. In addition, the interest in qualified veterinary health and laboratory graduates is increasing in the private sector.

Academic Staff Planning of the Department
Planning is carried out within the framework of the “Regulation on Determination and Use of Academic Staff Norm Staffs in State Higher Education Institutions”.

Development Opportunities of Academic Staff
It is possible to be assigned if the academic staff completes the legal processes for the training of academic staff at home and abroad for self-development.
Academic staff can attend the project and academic publication writing trainings given by the BAP unit. Academic staff are encouraged to participate in scientific meetings and learning activities organized at home and abroad.

Student Admission Requirements of the Department
To be successful in the YKS exam conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Admission conditions for foreign students are announced on the university's website at the beginning of each academic year.
Student Qualification Requirements
The conditions that students must meet in order to obtain an associate degree in veterinary medicine; a) To have passed all the courses in the curriculum with at least a DC degree, b) To have achieved a weighted average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, c) To have passed the compulsory vocational internship with a successful grade.

Graduation requirements
Students who successfully complete all of the courses in the program for a total of 240 ECTS and achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are entitled to graduate. In addition to successfully completing the courses, a graduation work is essential for graduation.

Educational Process in the Department
The curriculum of the department is reviewed at the end of each semester, and the proposals for changes in the curriculum are discussed at the departmental boards and necessary changes are made.
Education takes place in 3 different environments. These are a) in the classroom environment, b) in the laboratory environment, and c) in real life applications.
Theoretical lessons are given in the classroom environment.
Practical courses (Laboratory Techniques and Principles, Food Hygiene and Technology, General Microbiology, etc.) are given in the laboratory environment.
Real life applications are provided with optional internships and assignments.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

Counseling Services Offered to Students
Consultancy services are provided under 3 main headings. These
a) Course selection: During the course selection process, students contact their academic advisors and receive consultancy services.
b) Participation in exchange programs (Erasmus, Farabi, Mevlana etc.): Announcements are made to the students on the official website and on the department bulletin boards by the foreign relations coordinator every academic semester. From the moment they are entitled to learning mobility, the foreign relations department coordinator informs the students about the entire exchange process and the entire academic process is followed by the coordinator.
c) Internship: Our 2nd year students contact the department secretariat and obtain optional internship files and benefit from internship opportunities.
Participation in Exchange Programs
Students who want to participate in exchange programs can apply to Erasmus, Farabi and Mevlana programs through the Foreign Relations Office.
